The Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Research was founded at the end of August 2014 with the publication of the institute’s regulations. With this institute a subject-related competence center for atmospheric and environmental research has been created that currently focusses on combining the research expertise of atmospheric chemistry and atmospheric physics at the University of Wuppertal. In addition, the promotion of young scientists is an important task of the institute.
To achieve its objectives, the institute will conduct research in atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric physics, simulation experiments, modelling, development of new and innovative measurements techniques and evaluation algorithms.
The institute is part of the Interdisciplinary Center “Atmosphere and Environment”.
